2025 Annual Summary
In 2025, Canyon's "King of the Jungle" aura completely faded. After transferring to the super team GEN.G, he not only failed to become the helmsman but also became the most disappointing "passenger." The keywords for the year were: slump, lost rhythm, and erratic mechanics. At the beginning of the year, during the LCK playoffs, he was criticized for "not knowing what he was doing," lagging behind his opponents in jungle planning and ganking rhythm, and being completely outmatched in his lane. This set the tone for his mediocre year.
On the crucial stage of the World Championship, his problems were exposed. In the third game of the quarterfinals against HLE, his Skarner delivered an "epic" disastrous play: attempting to traverse terrain with the Rift Herald, he miscalculated and crashed into a wall, resulting in an instant collapse for his team. Such low-level, irrational judgment errors permeated his entire season. In GEN's system, centered around Chovy and Ruler, his role was reduced to "resource control" rather than proactively creating tempo. This led him to frequently indulge in "farming without ganking," and in crucial moments where the jungle needed to carry the game, he had long lost his former "heavenly star" ability, appearing mediocre and powerless.
Ultimately, GEN was eliminated in the semifinals of the World Championship. Although Canyon chose to renew his contract, claiming a desire to win a world championship with his teammates, 2025 was undoubtedly a year of severe damage to his professional reputation. He went from a game-defining genius jungler to a system piece reliant on the mid and bot lane carries, or even an unstable weak link.
